7 Things Before Turning 37

I’ve never been afraid of numbers (age, number the the scale), but this year, 37 is weighing heavy on me. After having two babies back to back, my body feels worn out. Plus, the responsibility of having children has also made me feel much more grown up. Though I can’t turn back the clock, I can take good care of myself and this seems like a good week to put my best effort forward.

I'm Turning into My Parents

Sometimes I’ll joke that I regret having such a normal, loving, supportive upbringing because I have no fodder for a juicy memoir. As far as writing (and reading) goes, it’s my favorite form, hands down. But no one really wants to hear about my white, middle class upbringing in a wholesome Midwestern town.

I Wrote a Book!

Milwaukeeans are famous for their humility. So while this feel like shameless self promotion (which it is) I am going to ignore the shame for once and shout from the rooftops: “Buy my book!”

License to Chill

Never in my life would I have thought I’d call having a baby liberating. For the first six months, I felt like a slave to my precious and helpless little infant as the primary source of liquid nourishment. And now that he’s a toddler and eats any food in sight (with only five teeth!) I still lament being stuck at home from 6 PM on – chained to the kitchen sink or the couch out of pure exhaustion from chasing and cleaning up after him.

Greek Isle Adventures

Greece, from the word Gre, meaning friendly people and Ce, meaning of the Aegean Sea. Only kidding, but that was the typical response you’d get from most Greeks when you asked how to say a Greek word or phrase.
